The Sunrise Children's Villages are located in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia and were created in 1993, following a visit by Geraldine Cox. We are an Australian project caring for hundreds of orphaned, abandoned, trafficked and other vulnerable children in Cambodia.

Center Care Program

We provide children with a quality family like environment, while they live in Sunrise.  Children live in small family groups with Khmer house parents providing love and care.  Regular activities include children helping around the family living rooms, and other activities replicating normal family life in Cambodia.

All referrals for new children are assessed by our Social Workers who will travel to the community to ensure information is accurate and that there are no other alternative family or community care options.  We work closely with the Government Department of Social Services, with a formal Agreement, and the Sunrise land is kindly provided rent free.

Reintegration and Community Care Program

Sunrise supports children to live safely back home with family and relatives.  Our Reintegration programfocuses on connecting with relatives of children with caring attachments and a willingness to support their children back home.  We provide support to both children and their families by providing material assistance, household items, and improving housing if needed.  We also continue supporting children’s education, and ensure that our children have access to opportunities through education and other activities offered at one of our Villages.

Education ProgramSunrise Education Program

Sunrise provides children with the best possible educational opportunities available.  Children attend local private schools which given them a quality learning environment, while still following the national Khmer school curriculum.  We also provide quality English classes. We also provide a range of vocational educational training opportunities, including computer training in our centre based computer school, traditional Khmer dancing, guitar, drum and piano lessons, and sewing classes.  Creative art and craft classes are facilitated by well known Khmer artists.
